Mallorca is an island that begs to be explored without hurry. With your Babilon Caravan campervan, you have the freedom to discover the best of the island at your own pace, sleeping each night in a different landscape, with no hotel check-in times and no rush to get back.

In this 3-day itinerary we propose a circular route that combines the Serra de Tramuntana, the wild north and the eastern coves. It covers around 280 km in total — perfectly manageable in our Tessoro 463 Up, which handles the mountain roads of the island with ease.

Day 1 — From Palma to the Serra de Tramuntana (~90 km)

We start from our base in Palma de Mallorca. Before you set off, we spend half an hour with you going over the campervan: we show you how the kitchen works, the bathroom, the water tanks and the solar panel. No rush, at your pace.

Morning: Valldemossa

First unmissable stop: Valldemossa, just 17 km from Palma. It is one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, and you will understand why the moment you walk through its stone streets lined with flower pots. The Palace of King Sancho and the Charterhouse are worth a relaxed two-hour visit.

Practical tip: Park the campervan in the public car park at the entrance to the village (free in the morning). Walk in — the streets of the centre are pedestrianised.

Midday: Deià and Cala de Deià

Continue 10 km along the mountain road to Deià, an artists’ village with spectacular views over the Mediterranean. Walk down to Cala de Deià: a 15-minute walk between olive trees to reach a pebble cove nestled between cliffs. Perfect for a swim before lunch.

Prepare lunch in the campervan with sea views — that is exactly what it feels like not having to look for a restaurant.

Afternoon: Sa Foradada Viewpoint and arrival in Sóller

The Ricardo Roca Viewpoint and the Sa Foradada Viewpoint are two 10-minute stops each with breathtaking panoramas over the coastline. Arrive at Port de Sóller before sunset. The seafront promenade is beautiful in the evening light.

Where to sleep: Service area at Port de Sóller (with grey water disposal and fresh water filling). There are other designated areas a few kilometres away.

Day 2 — From Sóller to the north: wild Tramuntana (~80 km)

This is the most spectacular day. We venture into the wildest part of the Serra de Tramuntana, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011.

Morning: Sa Calobra and Cala Tuent

The road to Sa Calobra is one of the most famous in Europe: 12 km of tight bends between mountains tumbling into the sea. Our Tessoro 463 Up handles the curves with agility — drive slowly and enjoy the scenery. At the end of the road, the Torrent de Pareis is a spectacular gorge that opens out onto a pebble beach.

6 km away, Cala Tuent is its quieter, less well-known sister. Turquoise water, few tourists and parking right by the cove. One of the finest coves on the entire island.

Tip: Arrive at Sa Calobra before 10 am to find parking and avoid coach traffic.

Midday: Cap de Formentor

Head up to Cap de Formentor, the northernmost tip of the island. The 20-km road is narrow but passable — take care at the passing points. The reward: 360° views over the sea from the lighthouse, with 200-metre cliffs at your feet.

Eat lunch in the campervan in the lighthouse car park with those views. There is literally no restaurant in the world with a better terrace.

Afternoon: Port de Pollença

Drop down to the peaceful Port de Pollença to stroll around the harbour, grab a coffee and restock with water and supplies at the supermarket. It is a good moment to clean the campervan if needed.

Where to sleep: There are campervan areas near Pollença and Alcúdia. The northern area offers several options with full services.

Day 3 — The eastern coves and back to Palma (~140 km)

The last day is dedicated to the coves of the east and south, more accessible and perfect for a beach day before returning the campervan.

Morning: Cala Mesquida and Cala Ratjada

Cala Mesquida is one of the few natural coves of the east with dunes. Crystal-clear water and fine sand, with almost no development around it. Arrive early — from 11 am onwards it fills up.

8 km away, Cala Ratjada is a fishing village with a beautiful lighthouse and a palm-lined seafront promenade. Ideal for breakfast on a terrace before carrying on.

Midday: Coves del Drach (optional)

If you have time, the Coves del Drach in Porto Cristo are a unique spectacle: 4 km of underground caves containing one of the largest subterranean lakes in the world. Guided tours depart every hour. Campervan parking available.

Afternoon: Es Trenc and back to Palma

Es Trenc is the wildest and longest beach in Mallorca: 4 km of white sand and Caribbean-coloured water, completely undeveloped. Perfect for the last swim of the trip. Then a relaxed drive back to Palma via the motorway (about 60 km, 45 minutes).

Returning the campervan is straightforward: we check the vehicle together, inspect the tanks and within 30 minutes your deposit is on its way back to you.

Practical tips for your campervan route around Mallorca

Wild camping: Wild camping is prohibited in Mallorca. Always use designated campervan areas (many free) or campsites. We recommend the Park4Night app for finding the best spots validated by other travellers.

Mountain roads: The Tessoro 463 Up is 7.48 m long and 2.30 m wide — it fits perfectly through the roads of the Tramuntana. Drive slowly on the tightest bends and use the passing places when you meet oncoming traffic.

Water and waste disposal: Mallorca has an expanding network of service areas. In Sóller, Pollença, Alcúdia and several campsites you can fill the fresh water tank and dispose of grey water without any trouble.

Best time to visit: April to October, with tourist peaks in July and August. Our recommendation: May, June or September — good weather, fewer crowds and more affordable prices.

What to pack: sun cream, European plug adaptor, a good paper map of Mallorca as a backup, and a sense of adventure.
